Jones v. Jones
I had a request from CB over at Mangina Monologues (who, btw, is a TOTAL hottie) to give my opinion of the new Indiana Jones movie. I know a lot of people out there will disagree with me, but I kinda liked it. I know it wasn't Raiders, but I thought it had the general feel of the old movies. The one thing that I didn't like, however, was all the CGI stuff. AND the nuclear explosion thing went a bit far, even for Indy. Are you telling me that a 1950's refrigerator will keep you alive from a direct hit from a 50 megaton thermonuclear bomb? Bitch, please... A lot of people didn't like the sci-fi angle. I did like it. I thought it very well paid homage to the period of time in which the film was set. All those UFO movies were essentially reflecting the fear that Americans felt about communism and their very well-grounded fear at the time of the Soviets and the proliferation of nuclear weapons. I enjoyed the action and appreciated the fact that an effort was made to kind of make it like the original and use more "real people" action rather than go totally CGI, like the new Star Wars flix. I thought that Karen Allen was totally wasted in the film, though. It was almost as if her role were an afterthought. Just so Speilberg could say ... "Look -- we got the original girl back. Now what do we do with her?" All in all, I found it fun and a good escape for a couple of hours.
On the other hand we have Sex. Words escape me. Almost. This was one of the most satisfying movies I have seen in awhile. My girls are back!!! The movie was such a welcome relief for me from the final season of the show which I liked the least and found to be very dark as far as where the relationships were taken. I was concerned that it would not translate well into film after existing solely as a half-hour serial. It came off much better than I had anticipated. All the magic and charm was there. And just like the show, it threw in a few surprises, especially in character development that I wasn't expecting. What was really a hoot was the audience. Every girl, woman, or tranny in Memphis was out Friday night DIVAED out, do you hear me? Every broad there had her jewelry, heels and face on. AND standing in line, to boot. It was like Star Wars for girls. Ahhhh - as the movie poster says..."To be Carried away again..." My best friend has been vicious in deriding me because I went to go see it. He said there was no way he was going to go see a movie about 4 sluts. I said that works out just fine, because no one was asking him to go. Can't wait to go see it again...and then get the DVD...(sigh)
And on top of the greatness of the movie, I had a date this weekend. He's a really hot guy I met last week. As luck would have it, I managed to introduce him to a couple of my good friends. It was said that he is one good looking kid. KID?? KID, you say??? He is 5 years older than me. AND to add insult to injury, she said she thought he looked 10 years younger than ME. OUCH!!! No matter how flattering that is to him...OUCH!!! I'm still tender from that remark. I bet he didn't realize he was out with Methuselah. But we had a great time. Too bad he is moving in a month.

Girlfriend, Moving in a month is code for "If this doesn't work I can disappear and not hurt you feelings" sd
I still haven't seen "Sex" yet, but I've heard so many varying reviews on it that I'm not sure I want to see it. I'm sure I will end up seeing it though one of these days.
I wanted to say thank you for all of the sweet comments on my blog. I'm going through a very difficult time right now as you can tell, which may force me to come out prematurely and to be frank, it is a mess and driving me crazy. Thanks for all of your support!

I hope you got to try a rose (wine). If you get a chance tell me which one it was. I'm always open to trying something new.
